Grab your shades; Summer 2011/2012 is going to be bright. Colour is making a strong comeback, and not from the shy end of the palette either. Think bold pink, tangerine, cobalt blue and more. Play with great splashes of colour, through statements of solid colour, colour-blocking or fabulous florals.

Colour-blocking is one of my favourite trends for summer 2011. You can get a little cheeky with clashing colours, or play it safe with complementary colours; either way you will be bang-on trend.

Although bright, bold, beautiful colours will rule this summer; perfect pastels are still in vogue. Oh so pretty and sugary sweet, pastels will leave you feeling very cool and feminine during our long, hot summer.

Summer 2011/2012 is also the season for stripes. Again you can play it safe with nautical stripes, or go a little crazy with multi-stripes, but one thing is certain, stripes are everywhere this season.

Happily, black and white continues to be a strong theme for summer. Nobody loves black & white more than Hip Hop. Strong, classic and ageless. And check out our quirky prints to give your summer look serious appeal.

The overall look this winter is beautiful, feminine, classic and oh so very grown-up.

If I was forced to choose only 2 items as “must-haves” this season, it would undoubtedly have to be the coat and the dress.

The dress is it. In all it’s fabulous glory. And forget voluminous shifts or tent-dresses, this season celebrates the waist. Gorgeous curvy, dresses with coats belted at the waist. Bold colours or flower prints, all nipped in at the waist to show off lots of hippy loveliness. And pencil skirts. There is no escaping the glamour of it all.

And the coats. One must simply own a statement coat this winter. Belted coats, hooded coats, coats with wide sleeves, coats in black or coats in leopard – this season is all about the coat. Happily Hip Hop has the widest selection of jackets and coats you could ever hope to stumble upon. We will keep you both warm and wonderful this winter. Promise.

If we are talking colour, then you may have noticed that things are looking both bold and beautiful. Black, grey and purple are the signature colours this season, and the supporting hues are rich and vibrant: sapphire blue, claret red and chocolate brown. There is absolutely no time to hibernate this winter – life is for living.

Perhaps my favourite trend of all (or almost trend, we can see the revolution starting to happen); is that jeans are getting higher in the waist. Goodbye muffin top: boot-leg, straight-leg or skinny, the waist is definitely getting higher and I for one am loving it!
